Description
Our 4-hour excursion includes a visit to the Ionian Sea caves, a tour of Leuca from the sea,
and a visit to the Adriatic Sea caves.
The departure will take place from the small port of Torre Vado and from there we will begin sailing south, towards the Gulf of Santa Maria di Leuca where the numerous caves of the Ionian Sea are enclosed.
To name a few, Dragon Cave, Stable Cave, Giants’ Cave, Three Doors Cave, River Cave.
With our boats, we’ll take the time to illustrate and explain the names and peculiarities that
characterize our caves and our coast, giving our guests time to take
unforgettable photos.
Leaving the Ionian Sea caves behind, we’ll reach Punta Ristola, the heel of Italy, and from here
we’ll have a wonderful view of the Leuca marina. We’ll reach Leuca, characterized by its
19th-century villas in Greco-Arab style, the “bagnarole” (bathing tubs) used by noble women to bathe and
keep themselves hidden from prying eyes. We’ll admire the monumental staircase and the lighthouse, the second
largest in Italy, which dominates the Leuca marina.
The navigation will continue, arriving at Punta Meliso, where the Ionian and
Adriatic Seas meet.
From Punta Meliso, we’ll begin sailing up the Adriatic Sea, admiring the changing cliffs,
the color of the sea, and the caves; the landscape will be completely different from that of the Ionian
Sea. We’ll visit the caves: the Terradico Cave, the Verdusella Cave, the Gabbiani Cave, the Soffio Cave, the Vora Cave, and the Mannute complex. We’ll stop right here at the Soffio Cave
for our first swim. We’ll stop in this splendid bay for about 20 minutes,
and those who wish, with the help of the onboard crew, can swim to this wonderful
cave. From the Adriatic Sea, we’ll return to the Ionian Sea, where we’ll make a second swim stop in
a bay with turquoise water.
Our aperitif on board will be a must, featuring friselline with tomatoes, capers, and anchovies,
Margherita pizza, rustic Salento focaccia, traditional Salento bread, and fresh seasonal fruit. Drinks offered on board during the aperitif include Coca-Cola, Vecchia Torre Negroamaro rosé wine, and Cantina Petrelli Prosecco.
